  14.               This  is the  Wildfire Evaluation  and Distribution  disk for
  15.          Volume 1A of POWER-WORKSHEETS FOR 1-2-3.

  18.          OUR MARKETING APPROACH

  20.               In developing applications software  for the 1-2-3 market, we
  21.          had four specific goals:

  23.                    1.   To provide  useful, high  quality software  that is
  24.                         easy to use, 
  25.  
  26.                    2.   To supply detailed  documentation, 
  27.  
  28.                    3.   To provide ongoing support to our customers, and 
  29.  
  30.                    4.   To deliver  our products  at reasonable  cost (less
  31.                         than $5 per worksheet).

  33.               Initially,  we intended  to market  these worksheets  through
  34.          established channels.  But we quickly discovered that the software
  35.          distribution industry  is oriented toward  the high priced  end of
  36.          the  software  market  and,  frankly, is  not  geared  to  deliver
  37.          economically priced software to  retailers and users.  Rather than
  38.          foregoing a reasonable reward for  our efforts, or restricting the
  39.          sale of  our products by  allowing them  to be overpriced,  we are
  40.          distributing  them directly  using  this  Wildfire Evaluation  and
  41.          Distribution disk.

  43.               If you  use 1-2-3, give Volume  1A a trial.  Note,  this disk
  44.          represents only one-half  of Volume 1.  If you find  it useful and
  45.          wish to  purchase it, send  us $49 and  we'll send you  the second
  46.          disk.   Use the  order  form  at the  end  of this  documentation.
  47.          Corporate users  may buy in bulk  by paying $49 for  each separate
  48.          location (building)  where one or more  copies of Power-Worksheets
  49.          for 1-2-3  will be used.   When we  receive your payment,  we will
  50.          send you a notice of ownership  and a disk containing Volume 1B of
  51.          Power-Worksheets for 1-2-3.

  54.          MAKING COPIES 
  55.  
  56.               Before using  Power-Worksheets for  1-2-3, we  recommend that
  57.          you make a copy of this disk using the DOS DISKCOPY command or the
  58.          COPY *.* command.  The disk is formatted for use with either DOS 1
  59.          or DOS 2.   Power-Worksheets for 1-2-3 should work  on any machine
  60.          which runs Lotus 1-2-3 (Version  1A) and reads IBM-PC double-sided
  61.          disks.

  78.          incentive to produce affordable software.

  112.          WHAT ARE POWER-WORKSHEETS?

  114.               Power-Worksheets  relieve  you of  the  need  to set  up  (or
  115.          program)  and test  1-2-3 worksheets  to solve  standard problems.

  138.          CONTENTS OF VOLUME 1A

  140.               AGENDA 
  141.               AGENDA allows you  to go from one worksheet  to another while
  142.               remaining entirely under menu control. 
  143.  
  144.               BSTAT 
  145.               BSTAT accepts from  one to six sets of data  and performs two
  146.               major  analytical  tasks.   First,  BSTAT  provides  a  basic
  147.               statistical  summary for  each data  set.  Second,  it allows
  148.               visual comparison of the data with over 40 graphs. 
  149.  
  150.               DEPREC 
  151.               Loaded  with   graph  options,  DEPREC  is   a  comprehensive
  152.               worksheet which performs  straight line, sum-of-years-digits,
  153.               declining balance  and ACRS depreciation  calculations.  Also
  154.               provided   is  a   crossover   depreciation  schedule   which
  155.               automatically  converts from  declining  balance to  straight
  156.               line depreciation when appropriate.

  158.               NPV 
  159.               Calculates the Net  Present Value of a cash flow  at a number
  160.               of discount  rates, and plots  Net Present Value  against the
  161.               discount rates.

  163.               PROFIT 
  164.               A comprehensive   profitability    and   breakeven   analysis
  165.               worksheet.   PROFIT  can produce  a  wide  variety of  graphs
  166.               showing the sensitivity of one factor against another.

  168.               ROR 
  169.               Calculates  the Rate  of Return  of a  cash flow  using three
  170.               methods, (1)  the Internal Rate  of Return, (2)  the Modified
  171.               Internal Rate of Return and (3) the Financial Management Rate
  172.               of Return.

  174.               SREGR 
  175.               SREGR (for  Simple Linear  Regression) provides  both tabular
  176.               and  graphical linear  regression analysis.   In addition  to
  177.               calculating  intercept and  slope, this  Power-Worksheet also
  178.               calculates  the  correlation  coefficient and  the  value  of
  179.               Student's t.

  183.               In addition to utility  transfer worksheets and comprehensive
  184.          documentation, Volume  1B of  Power-Worksheets for  1-2-3 contains

  188.               ANALYZER is a powerful planning tool.  You can enter data for
  189.               up to six  factors (such as revenue, costs,  profits and cash
  190.               flow; or grain prices, rainfall and sales of farm equipment).
  191.               You can  define relationships between the  factors.  Then you
  192.               can examine raw data and results using a variety of graphs.

  204.               BTIMES 
  205.               BTIMES (Basic Timeseries) is  a forecasting tool.  It accepts
  206.               a raw timeseries (e.g. stock  prices) and calculates 5 linear
  207.               moving averages.  By plotting  the raw data against different
  208.               moving  averages you  may be  able to  anticipate changes  in
  209.               trend  in  the  original  timeseries.   Over  40  graphs  are
  210.               available. 
  211.  
  212.               CORREL 
  213.               CORREL calculates  the serial  correlation coefficients  of a
  214.               timeseries.  Serial  correlation coefficients are  useful for
  215.               identifying  periodic or  seasonal  data  and for  estimating
  216.               parameters   of  forecasting   equations  (e.g.   of  sales).
  217.               Graphics  include  a  plot of  the  correlation  coefficients
  218.               against the lags (i.e. the correlogram). 
  219.  
  220.               ESMOOTH 
  221.               This worksheet is particularly useful for analyzing stock and
  222.               commodity  prices.   It  calculates  the  exponential  moving
  223.               average of  a timeseries, (e.g. gold  prices).  The smoothing
  224.               factor is user defined and  the average can be made extremely
  225.               sensitive  to  changes in  trend.   Graphs  are available  to
  226.               display the raw data and  the moving average, and a "Detrend"
  227.               option highlights cycles in the data.

  229.               LREGR 
  230.               LREGR is a more  sophisticated Linear Regression package than
  231.               SREGR.  In addition to the schedules provided by SREGR, LREGR
  232.               calculates confidence  intervals on  the regression  line and
  233.               estimates made from it.   It also calculates the significance
  234.               level of the regression equation.

  236.               PAYOUT 
  237.               Provides  a comprehensive  payout analysis  for a  project or
  238.               investment,  given  its  cash  flow  and  the  borrowing  and
  239.               reinvestment rates.  A 'goal-seeking'  option is available to
  240.               calculate the breakeven borrowing rate.

  249.          the enter key.
